Do you have daffodils in your landscape that you’d like to enjoy indoors? Have you ever picked a bouquet of daffs only to have them wilt and die in a day or two? Here are some tips for you:
Pick them in the “gooseneck” stage. They’ll open in the vase and you’ll get days more vase life from them.
Daffodils lose water through their stems, not their petals so fill that vase up to the top.
Change their water daily, giving them a little trim when you do.
If you put them in with other flowers, let them cauterize for several hours in a separate vase first then toss that water. Daff’s exude sap which can irritate skin (so just wash your hands after picking them) and is toxic to other flowers. After you pick them or cut them when changing their water, set them in a separate vase for 3-4 hours so the sap can stop flowing before placing them back in with other blooms.
